There is always another side, always(TM) How does Jean Rhys demonstrate her understanding of this idea in her novel Wide Sargasso Sea Essay Example

There is constantly another side, always(TM) How does Jean Rhys show her comprehension of this thought in her novel Wide Sargasso Sea? Exposition The primary aim of Rhys compose back was to give Bront㠯⠿â ½s frantic lady in the loft a voice. For the benefit of all voices from the edges, Rhys, she felt an individual unfairness was made in the making of a figure in Jane Eyre that would be viewed as distraught and frightful, and would speak to the nineteenth Century English peruser a generalization of the West Indies and the individuals who lived there. In a letter to Francis Wyndham that she clarified that she was vexed at her (Bront㠯⠿â ½) picture of the paper tiger crazy person, an inappropriate Creole scenes or more all the genuine savagery of Mr Rochester she felt that Jane Eyre had just included one side-the English side While trying to make the opposite side Rhys refines Bertha by naming her Antoinette to differentiate the overwhelming and monstrous name she is last given in Wide Sargasso Sea and Jane Eyre. Rhys basically makes the world and the foundation from which Antoinette should come, and re-characterizes Rochester as a youngster, defenseless and less incredible than he is in Jane Eyre. From the start of the novel there is a disrupting environment and the two characters, of Rochester and Antoinette, are viewed as outcasts in the colorful and inebriating Caribbean scene. Set after the Emancipation Act and in a territory where there is extraordinary racial threatening vibe, Rhys joins numerous translations of the opposite side in her novel; huge social holes, post-Freudian thoughts of nature versus support, and loss of personality which impacts a characters conduct. Rhys is an author who might give critique from an unpretentious point on the edge of composing, she would expound on examples and e ncounters that occurred in her own life to give the new amended characters of her compose back. She appeared to be such a poor phantom I thought Id like to expound on her life totally reconsiders Bertha Masons character in Jane Eyre from being a two-dimensional apparition or vampyre who at last must be yielded, all together for such a well known nineteenth Century champion to guarantee her equitable and cheerful end. They state when inconvenience approaches positions, thus the white individuals did. In any case, we were not in their positions these basic yet ground-breaking sentences bring the peruser into the universe of the youthful Antoinette, who is viewed as an intruder, not exclusively to those thought about they, yet in addition to herself. Rhys clarifies through Antoinette that the Emancipation Act that conceded such a great amount of opportunity to dark slaves and was considered so inexplicable and awesome by the individuals who planned likewise disabled blacks unemployed and homes, and sentenced slave proprietors to neediness and has another side not envisioned. This thought of being an outcast is received from Jane Eyre, both Jane and Antoinette view themselves as an intruder and an outsider, both are isolated from their folks either genuinely or sincerely which draws a comparability between the lives of nineteenth century ladies right now. One of the highlighted subjects and significant parts of Wide Sargasso Sea is the finished misconstruing of two totally different societies; English and Jamaican. The extremely trademark that made Wide Sargasso Sea was the Englishs lack of interest to recognizing and communicating feeling enthusiastically the manner in which different societies do. This is what Jean Rhys recognizes as one of Rochesters characteristics in Jane Eyre, she fuses this Englishness into her novel Wide Sargasso Sea (appeared by Rochesters How old would i say i was the point at which I figured out how to conceal what I felt? recommending this turned out to be natural and incorporated with his character). Rhys utilizes this to disclose how Rochester figures out how to become both spurned by and to want Antoinette so profoundly - I detested its lack of concern and the savagery which was a piece of its beauty. Over all I abhorred her. For she had a place with the enchantment and the flawlessness. His contempt fo r the scene, the way of life and Antoinette originate from his failure to speak with it or more all not having any desire to be brought into something he genuinely fears-She had left me parched and for my entire life would be thirst and aching for what I had lost before I discovered it. This raises implications of Obeah and black magic and the thought that English ladies were never similar to this, that they would be peaceful and submissive and the minor idea that ladies could ever discover sex engaging or pleasant was totally unwarranted in English culture, quit worrying about Rochesters freshness with ladies as a rule. This thought would have been genuinely startling in nineteenth Century England. Besides there is a tangled connection among dreams and reality. Antoinette feels that England must be a cool dull dream that the West Indies is the main spot she knows. This is educational of the opposite side since Rochester feels especially a similar dream-like truth of the West Indies thus far not considered Antoinettes perspective on England. The appearance of Daniel Cosways letter, does nothing other than make Rochesters tensions on the island more awful, by affirming thoughts that Antoinette must be frantic or temperamental for having the option to draw such harshness and ravenous thirst from him. Rochester at that point utilizes the letter to fuel his feelings of trepidation of Antoinette and to later draw away from her. Antoinette herself cites There is consistently the opposite side, in every case except in this manner overlooked by Rochester. Be that as it may, by doing this Rhys makes the mindfulness in the peruser of minimized voices experienced by her own characters as well as without anyone else who perceives and feels for different voices like hers; inaccessible and unrecognized for an extremely prolonged stretch of time, until it was past the point of no return. All through the novel, there is a hidden mumble of dangerous tattle. In this way, Rhys gives us the impacts of tattle on the getting side and gives us how tattle has tormented Antoinettes (and her moms) life. A ton of the tattle originates from the hirelings who in a striking complexity to English workers, uninhibitedly state what they need and are viewed as reckless and impolite. Am㠯⠿â ½lie speaks to a ton of the opportunity, excessive talking and conduct of Jamaican workers in a Creole family unit, openly scrutinizing Rochester and Antoinette the white cockroach she wed recommending that these white cockroaches should be disposed of. The hours of day influence the characters conduct essentially; during light hours Antoinette is cheerful and content (singing Christophines melodies for instance) however around evening time her conduct is changed into something darker and increasingly savage-will I wake her up and tune in to the things she says, murmurs in the murkiness. Not by day., around evening time there is a sure loss of control, and feelings are set higher and more uninhibitedly communicated than during sunshine hours ( I see you were harsh with her eh?). The two characters obtain an avaricious sexual hunger she was as anxious for whats called adoring as I might have been progressively lost and suffocated a while later. This recommends the sort of need that the couple are searching for as a way to discharge, be occupied with or overlook. I watched her bite the dust ordinarily recommends that the opposite side may allude to a half-stirred state, or even passing itself and the utilization of sex as an apparatus to arrive at this condition of le petit mort-the little demise as a transitory state. By and large, Rhyss choice to resuscitate and change the character of Bertha Mason - a character once so two-dimensional and difficult to identify with in Jane Eyre, set up makes a more profound and important female character with huge characteristics and foundation. Rhys breaks Bertha out of the limits of the upper room and builds up her character to make a progressively important and only form of Bertha Masons life with the goal that she would then be able to be an increasingly huge and natural character penance and similarly praises her, as opposed to an image of dispersal she was portrayed in Jane Eyre. Rochester is likewise overhauled and portrayed as a more defenseless and na㠯⠿â ½ve more youthful man than his overwhelming sentimental saint persona in Jane Eyre; making it simpler for perusers to accept and comprehend his character yet in addition simpler to identify with him; his relations with his dad and sibling and his situation as a more youthful child and his sentime nts of selling out all add up to the unfeeling yet supported demonstration of containing a free Caribbean lady in a confined English villa.

The Doomed Seedling Antigonick as Rendition of the Fate Vs. Free Will Debate in Antigone - Literature Essay Samples

The Fate Vs. Free Will debate has long been adapted within literary texts, but Anne Carson’s Antigonick puts a spin on it by transforming it to be a debate between two texts. Antigonick is an adapted version of Sophocles’ Antigone, which tells the tale of a defiant girl who ultimately teaches the King a lesson on values and morality. Antigone’s defiance in the original reflects the â€Å"free will† side of the debate, even though she was born unfortunate. Carson’s Antigonick accentuates the â€Å"fate† aspect by adding in elements of nature that suggest that the situation is, for the most part, out of Antigone’s control. Antigonick blends the flaming nature of the character of Antigone with real elements of nature. Both Antigone and Antigonick begin darkly, with the death of Eteocles and Polynices who died fighting for the throne in the War of Thebes. Antigonick begins to bring in the descriptions of nature when the Chorus provides commentary on the conversation between Ismene and Antigone: [†¦] overweened our walls seven spears in his mouth instead of teeth that one fled before filling his cheeks with blood before any fire the noise of war was stretched along his back the boaster fled. (12) The above passage refers to the battle of Thebes and suggests a form of cowardice because it refers to â€Å"the man from Argos† who fled. Fire imagery accompanies the aspect of cowardice, ultimately suggesting that man is helpless in the face of nature. Further down in the Chorus’ passage, Carson writes: Zeus hates a boaster saw an ocean of them coming at us. (12) The use of the word â€Å"ocean,† something typically associated with unpredictable conditions is used to describe a mass amount of ego-driven men, something which can also be unpredictable, plowing forward on the battlefield. Again, Carson uses nature imagery to demonstrate that unpredictability and fate overpower the free will aspect. The two above passages are especially significant as it shows that fate is overpowering free will even during the War of Thebes, before the main part of Antigone’s story even begins. Early on in the story, readers are introduced to a list of Kreon’s verbs for the day. The verbs are dark, harsh, rhyming words that ultimately encompass every negative aspect of Kreon. Once again, the Chorus provides commentary that includes nature imagery to explain the situation when Kreon finds out that someone has buried Polynices body. His footsteps so perilously soft across the sea in marble water up the stiff blue waves and every Tuesday down he grinds the astonishable earth with horse and shatter shatters too the cheeks of birds and traps them in his forest headlights [†¦]. (15) The above passage begins by referencing the great power that Kreon holds. The description of soft footsteps across the sea evokes imagery of something surreal, ultimately giving more credit to Kreon. The â€Å"marble water† describes the wealth, and the description of Kreon on the horse galloping away while breaking divots into the ground is a powerful analogy to his ability to break nature, something that should be the highest and most unchallengeable power. Kreon’s immense power is undeniable, but the thought of any individual being either equally or more powerful than nature foreshadows a horrendous downfall for all involved. Moving forward with the plot line, Kreon finds no remorse in killing Antigone and calls for the guards to take her away. The chorus brings back the nature imagery to show that Antigone is helpless in the face of fate: One last root was reaching for the light in the house of Oidipus but the bloody dust of death hacks her down mows her downall the tall mad mountains of her mind (23). The description of a plant root showing one last effort to survive against what fate has decided parallels the idea of the helpless versus the great. The â€Å"house of Oidipus† reminds us readers that Antigone was born with the odds against her since she was the daughter of her brother and mother’s marriage. The description of death by being limited in mind is what ultimately clues readers that Antigone will not live. Antigone prides herself on her ability to analyze and be vocal, and restriction of this will surely kill her. Again, Carson’s incorporation of nature exemplifies the inability of man to surpass what is fate. Nature’s reign as a representation of fate, or the unchallengeable, comes to a climax when Tiresias, the blind prophet, speaks to Kreon about what wrong he has done: You’ve made a structural mistake with life and deathmy dear you’ve put the living underground and kept the dead up herethat is so wrong that is so wrong. (35-36) This passage distinguishes between two types of power: the power that a King holds, and the power that fate holds. From the very beginning of the story, both Kreon and fate saw the character of Antigone as being doomed, but any action taken should have only been on the part of fate, not Kreon. The act of Kreon ordering Antigone to be buried alive interfered with fate’s plan, and since fate holds more power than Kreon, he will surely be punished. Whether or not it was intended, Carson’s story of Antigonick put a spin on the classic Antigone by emphasizing the idea that fate overrules free will through the incorporation of nature imagery. It effectively captures the scope of Sophocles’ original plotline but adds another element that changes the reader’s perspective of how and why bad things happen. From the very beginning when readers are given a description of the War of Thebes, fire sets the tone for how helpless man is in the face of something natural (and uncontrollable). This idea is challenged when Carson describes Kreon’s power and how he breaks the earth when riding on horseback, for the earth should (theoretically) be unbreakable. Carson nevertheless, does not fail to emphasize when fate fights back against Kreon. A character like Kreon has all of the power in the city, yet when he attempts to disrupt the order of fate, or nature, his world comes crumbling apart and he stands helpless. Cars on’s Antigonick warns the reader to be more cognizant of the things that are out of our control, an idea that contrasts with the plot line of Antigone which suggests that the outcomes were due to actions of the individual. Alternative Methods Of Animal Testing - 1442 Words

Alternative Methods to Animal Testing Animal testing is the use of animals in research to determine the safety of a product, usually cosmetics or pharmaceutical drugs. This method of testing is an outdated science while alternative, non-animal methods are rapidly becoming more effective. Laws in the United States do not require cosmetics or medicinal drugs to be tested on animals, only that the products must be proven safe (FDA). Some argue that animal testing is necessary to improve human life. However, animals are harmed during the tests, despite the numerous laws put in place to avoid cruelty. Although many believe animal testing is necessary to ensure medicines and cosmetic products are safe, alternative, non-animal methods of testing, such as in vitro tests and EpiDerm, are available, and should be implemented. Animal testing is not a recent concept. In ancient times, philosophers and doctors would experiment on live animals to learn about anatomy and body systems. The Greek philosopher, Aristotle, performed live animal dissections to form theories about how the body worked (â€Å"Should Animals Be Used†). A surgeon named Ibn Zuhr tested surgeries on animals before applying them to human patients (Scutti). More recently, in the early 1900s, there were no laws to ensure that products had to be safe for human use. Laws were passed in 1906 to prevent the misbranding of drugs, food, and drinks. Sampling With or Without Replacement

Statistical sampling can be done in a number of different ways. In addition to the type of sampling method that we use, there is another question relating to what specifically happens to an individual that we have randomly selected.   This question that arises when sampling is, After we select an individual and record the measurement of attribute were studying, what do we do with the individual? There are two options: We can replace the individual back into the pool that we are sampling from.We can choose to not replace the individual.   We can very easily see that these lead to two different situations.    In the first option, replacement leaves open the possibility that the individual is randomly chosen a second time.   For the second option, if we are working without replacement, then it is impossible to pick the same person twice.   We will see that this difference will affect the calculation of probabilities related to these samples. Effect on Probabilities To see how we handle replacement affects the calculation of probabilities, consider the following example question. What is the probability of drawing two aces from a standard deck of cards? This question is ambiguous.   What happens once we draw the first card?   Do we put it back into the deck, or do we leave it out?   We start with calculating the probability with replacement.   There are four aces and 52 cards total, so the probability of drawing one ace is 4/52. If we replace this card and draw again, then the probability is again 4/52. These events are independent, so we multiply the probabilities (4/52) x (4/52) 1/169, or approximately 0.592%. Now we will compare this to the same situation, with the exception that we do not replace the cards.   The probability of drawing an ace on the first draw is still 4/52. For the second card, we assume that an ace has been already drawn.   We must now calculate a conditional probability.   In other words, we need to know what the probability of drawing a second ace, given that the first card is also an ace. There are now three aces remaining out of a total of 51 cards. So the conditional probability of a second ace after drawing an ace is 3/51.   The probability of drawing two aces without replacement is (4/52) x (3/51) 1/221, or about 0.425%. We see directly from the problem above that what we choose to do with replacement has bearing on the values of probabilities.   It can significantly change these values. Population Sizes There are some situations where sampling with or without replacement does not substantially change any probabilities.   Suppose that we are randomly choosing two people from a city with a population of 50,000, of which 30,000 of these people are female. If we sample with replacement, then the probability of choosing a female on the first selection is given by 30000/50000 60%.   The probability of a female on the second selection is still 60%.   The probability of both people being female is 0.6 x 0.6 0.36. If we sample without replacement then the first probability is unaffected.   The second probability is now 29999/49999 0.5999919998..., which is extremely close to 60%.   The probability that both are female is 0.6 x 0.5999919998 0.359995. The probabilities are technically different, however, they are close enough to be nearly indistinguishable.   For this reason, many times even though we sample without replacement, we treat the selection of each individual as if they are independent of the other individuals in the sample. Other Applications There are other instances where we need to consider whether to sample with or without replacement. On example of this is bootstrapping. This statistical technique falls under the heading of a resampling technique. In bootstrapping we start with a statistical sample of a population. We then use computer software to compute bootstrap samples. In other words, the computer resamples with replacement from the initial sample.

Computer Assisted Learning - 1845 Words

Computer Assisted Learning Abstract Computer assisted learning (CAL), once a novel concept, is a staple in numerous classrooms across the country, from the primary education to the university level. Computer assisted learning offers both students and teachers a daunting and near-limitless education supplement. However, this paper will examine examples where computer assisted learning is more or less effective and why. It will be revealed that computer assisted learning programs that are most effective are the ones which place precedence on interactivity. A particularly successful program, the Interaction Multimedia Computer Assisted Instruction Theory, will be examined carefully in regards to the strategy and concepts used in order to make such a learning program as successful as possible. Introduction Educators and pedagogues have known for years the wealth of benefits that computer assisted learning can offer the student. Certain educational software programs equal a dissemination of difficult concepts and/or an illumination of intricate ideas. For example, instead of trying to rely on diagrams to showcase a complex process such as the double blood supply to the liver, a three dimensional digital displays can truly shed light on such matters (Azer, 2008). A Student Of Oak Valley Middle School Essay Example For Students

A Student Of Oak Valley Middle School Essay As a former student of Oak Valley Middle School for all three years, I am proud to say that I still hold my Oak Valley Pride. From the beginning of the 6th grade all the way to the end of 8th grade, I remember almost every single teacher I had and the impact they had on me. With being a member of the Track and Field team for all three years, I clearly remember Mr. Howe, Mr. Haren, Mr. Shindorf, and Mrs. Jarvis. Each of these adults pushed me to do my best both in school and in sports. I even have Mr. Howe as my AP Government teacher this senior year. It was because of Mr. Shindorf praising my basketball skills in gym class in eighth grade that pushed me to join the girl’s freshman basketball team in high school. Mr. Haren was also my physical education teacher and taught me to love both working out and eating healthy. Together, all of these athletic coaches made me into the athlete and overall person I am today. Outside of athletics, I remember Mrs. Edsall, who planted the seed that grew into my love for literature today, Mrs. Lukes, who helped me excel in math to become the AP Calculus student I am today, and Mrs. Marshall, the wonderful woman who pushed me to excel in NJHS and has been behind my inspiration of community service and overall positivity in life. Without these teacher, I would not have had the unforgettable experiences that made my middle school life so amazing nor the incredible knowledge each of them placed inside my young mind. As a current student of Lakeland High School, I am a four year Track and Field athlete as well as a member of the National Honor Society, which came from my strong passion of Oak Valley’s NJHS program. Through NHS, I have had many more opportunities to reach out and help my community, whi. . o these individuals and to help those who were pushed down. I still remember the school dance where a girl was getting bullied for coming to the dance in a dress, while everyone else wore their average clothes. I felt terrible for this poor girl and I knew that no one else was going to step up. I not only told an adult of what was going on, but I also went out of my way to comfort her and make her time at the dance something to remember in a positive way. Having this feeling of helping someone else helped spark my innovation to help others in my community to this very day. I can’t even imagine what it would have been to be at a different middle school, but I’m glad I never found out. I knew from day one that Oak Valley is where I belonged, where I learned to believe, and where I became the person I am today. Thank you, Oak Valley, for making me the person I am today.

Globalizing Human Resource Management

Question: Discuss about the Globalizing Human Resource Management. Answer: Introduction The operation of every industry is evolving and so the way of managing the employees (Armstrong and Taylor 2014). The organizations are coming out of the traditional way of human resource management and applying modern ways of the same (Fee 2014). New ways of managing the employees will help in enhancing the performance of the employees and eventually will enhance the business of the organization (Sparrow, Brewster and Chung 2016). The human resource department is mainly responsible for recruiting new employees and managing the employees (Purce 2014). However, if the employees will be able to appoint their own leader, it might help in better performance of the employees. The process might have been tiring in the initial phase but if the human resource department look after the process and will properly see that there is no biasness in the strategy, it will be helpful for the organization in the long run (Renwick, Redman and Maguire 2013). The report will be divided into three parts. The implication of the employees, human resource department and the leaders will be evaluated. The implication of the employees once they will be able to elect the leaders will be assessed first. The implication of the human source department for the similar strategy will be studied. Finally, the implications of the leaders regarding the strategy will be examined in the report. The implication from three different departments will help in understanding the effect of the new strategy on the organization. Implication for the employees When the employees will be able to select their leader, the first good effect that will happen in the organization is that they will be happy with the leader (Jackson, Schuler and Jiang 2014). They would be comfortable with the leadership style and will respect the leader (Budhwar and Debrah 2013). As the employees who are electing the leader, hence chances of complaints will also be lesser. They will be satisfied with their choice and eventually the employee engagement will rise (Alfes et al. 2013). The team will not be affected by any politics. On contrary to other situations, where the employees are already in a lookout to get the most for the leader, in this situation, it will be different (Mitchell, Obeidat and Bray 2013). There will be no dirty competition between the employees and they will be helpful towards each other. When the employees will have their voice in the decisions that are being taken, chances of collision will be less (Riley 2014). They will listen to the leader and hence, the work will be carried out in a smooth manner. Chances of employee turnover will also decrease (Marler and Fisher 2013). Once the employees will be happy working with a leader of their choice, they will be happy and hence, they will develop a long-term relationship with the company (Boella and Goss-Turner 2013). It will helpful for the leader to manage the employees. In some cases, it have been seen that leaders are unaware of the capabilities of the employees. They ask the employees to so certain task but it might happen that the employees might not be able to perform the task. Once the employees will elect the leader, the person who will be the leader will have an idea about the capabilities of the employees (Carmeli, Gelbard and Reiter?Palmon 2013). The employees and leaders will have good relationship with each other. The leaders will be able to assign the task properly and the employees will be satisfied with the job role and will be able to perform in a better manner (Cristiani and Peir 2015). SumAll is one such organization that specializes in analyzing data. SumAll first came up with the idea of letting the employees elect the leaders (Atkinson 2015). The organization was able to witness good results from the new policy but some of the shortcomings were faced by the organization. At times, the employees were not able to elect proper leaders (Thomas and Lazarova 2013). The problems were rectified in the nets election but organization had to suffer from a temporary shortage of productivity. However, along with the shortcomings, there had been certain advantages. The best advantage is the learning process (Bartram and Dowling 2013). The leaders who were unable to manage the employees came to know about the areas that they lack knowledge and they learn the way to develop their skills. A person who has not been in the role of the leader will be able to play the role of the leader once elected. Thus, the employees will be able to develop their leadership skills. In addition to this, the employees will be able to brush up their decision-making skills while electing the leader for the group (Fee 2014). The employees were benefitted by the idea, as they were ready to test themselves in various situations. Earlier it was thought that for every election, one employee will step up for the role of the leader and other employees will not step back. However, employees were ready to take the position of the leader and hence the voting was tough. However, SumAll does not suffer any issues where there will be campaigns or advertisement for the voting process. HRM implications While recruiting the employees in an organization, the human resource department can take the help of external and internal recruitment (Armstrong and Taylor 2014). The human resource department might have to change the recruitment style from external recruitment to internal recruitment (Sparrow, Brewster and Chung 2016). Every time there would have been needed a new employee in the senior position or in the position of the leader of a team, they have look for employees outside the organization. By letting the employees choose their own leader, there would be an increase in internal recruitment (Purce 2014). It can be said that the work for the Human Resource Department will be reduced as far as the recruitment is concerned. They would not have to look after the recruitment process, but they have to look into the matter that the voting process is done in a proper manner. Along with the senior management, they will have to decide the members in a team in such a manner so that the tale nts in the divided in a proper manner (Renwick, Redman and Maguire 2013). The amount of training process from the part of the human resource department will increase after the implement of the new process (Jackson, Schuler and Jiang 2014). The human resource department will have to enhance their training process accordingly. The human resource department will have to assess the talents of the employees once an individual will be elected in the role of the leader (Budhwar and Debrah 2013). The human resource department evaluate whether the person is able to carry out the role of the leader and enhance the training process based on the evaluation (Alfes et al. 2013). If an employee is not able to carry out the job of the leader well, the human resource department should look into the matter whether there is any need of training for the employee who is assessing the role of the leader (Mitchell, Obeidat and Bray 2013). The human resource management of the organization who is letting the employees choose the leader, they can take the help of the zinger model. The zinger model aims at enhancing the employee engagement. The model points out the factors that are necessary to keep the employees engaged in works. Once the employees will be able to appoint the leader in an organization, they will be happy and will work for the enhancement of the business. Thus, the zinger model will be helpful for the human resource department to understand the importance of the strategy and the way to handle the employees so that the new strategy helps in the enhancement of the business. The human resource department should consider the new strategy that is the employee electing the leader as the craft strategy and they will aim at achieving the end results (Riley 2014). The central part of the model is CARE. As the employees will elect the leader, both the employees as well as the employees will be able to connect with each other. the human resource department will be responsible to see that the strategy authentic, it might not happen that the employees are selecting someone, and some other person is becoming the leader. The employees will get the sense of recognition once they will be able to appoint their leader. They will feel that there is some importance of their decision; they will take the proper decision in future. Thus, the human resource department should look into the fact all the employees are able to cast their vote for electing the leader. The human resource department will be able to perform well once the employees will be engaged in their work. The role of the human resource department is to assess the factors of the model and see that it is being followed properly in the organization while the new strategy is being implemented (Marler and Fisher 2013). The Human Resource Department should follow esteem organization to see that the rights of the employees are followed ethically in the organization. The human resource department should look into the fact the employees are following a diverse community while electing the leader. The employee should elect the leader based in capability, not based on ethnicity of the leader (Boella and Goss-Turner 2013). The Human Resource Department should look into the fact that the strategy is helping the organization to serve the customers well. If electing the leaders by the employees is not helping in enhancement of the business, the strategy should be changed accordingly (Carmeli, Gelbard and Reiter?Palmon 2013). On the other hand, the employees should be able to develop their career. Th e employees should learn the decision-making skill and the employees who will be elected as leader should be able to learn the leadership skills. Once the employees will be enthusiastic and full of energy, it will help in proper management in the organization. Thus, the strategy should help the employees to stay focused in the work. The strategy should contribute to the well being of the employees. The Human Resource Department should see whether the employees are happy with the strategy and handle the situations accordingly. Implications for leaders and managers Once the employees will elect the leaders or the managers, they will be able to understand the meaning of the responsibility (Cristiani and Peir 2015). When an organization is appointing a new employees, it is the decision of the senior management. However, when the employees will unanimously decide their leader, the responsibility doubles. The leader who has been elected by the employees should be able to live up to the expectation of the employees (Thomas and Lazarova 2013). They should perform in a better manner. In addition to this, they should be able to build a good relationship with the employees. The responsibility to take care of the employees doubles when the employees elect the person (Bartram and Dowling 2013). The leader or the manager who has been elected by the employees should follow transformational leadership style (Fee 2014). By being transformational leader, the individual should look after the development of the employees professionally and personally (Armstrong and Taylor 2014). As the employees have trusted the leader and appointed the person, the leader should keep the trust of the employees (Sparrow, Brewster and Chung 2016). The employees should be able to acquire new skills while working in the organization rather than just working for the company (Purce 2014). They should learn new things that they could apply in future or help them to develop their career in the same company or any other organization where they are working (Renwick, Redman and Maguire 2013). Conclusion After going through the situation, it can be said that the employees will be happy and satisfied once they will be able to elect their own leaders. There will be no dirty politics in the organization with the help of the strategy and level of employee engagement will rise accordingly. The employees will feel good, as they will be able to voice their concern in the organization. They will work hard as their decision will be recognized. SumAll is one such organization that was first developed the idea of employees elect the leaders. The organization was able to face good results, as the employees were content with the idea. However, the organization faced with shortcomings as all the employees were not for the roles. The employees were able to learn the required skills for the respective roles. The zinger model is best for the HR department to handle the situation where the employees will choose the leaders. When on one hand, the HR department will not have to spend time over recruitme nt, on the other hand, they have to spend considerable amount of time to see that the new strategy being followed properly in the organization. The individuals who will be appointed as leaders might or might not be able to essay the role properly. The HR department will be responsible to give proper training to the employees who are lacking the quality. Once the employees will elect the leaders, the leaders should become more responsible. The leaders should start following transformational leadership style. How to Write an Essay - Why Do Students Not Understand That They Are Writing An Informative Essay?

How to Write an Essay - Why Do Students Not Understand That They Are Writing An Informative Essay?Sample essays are often thought of as an essential component of a successful student's test-taking. There is no doubt that being able to write an essay with confidence and knowledge is a key component of being successful. This is why most students spend many hours practicing writing essays on their own before they hand them in to be graded. What most students do not realize is that they are not learning how to write an essay, but rather they are merely memorizing the basics of the form. By using a sample essay as your guide, you can write a more informative essay with confidence. If you use a sample essay as your outline, you will be better prepared to write a well-researched essay. You will also need to consider the topic of the essay before you begin to write it. You need to know what the main point of the essay is going to be before you start to write. When you know what your essay is g oing to cover, you will have a better idea of what you should expect to see in your essay. One of the biggest mistakes that students make is thinking that the topic of the essay is all that matters, when in fact the main points of the essay are actually secondary. The essay needs to have a clearly defined focus in order to be more informative. Your aim should be to inform your readers of the main points of the essay in a simple manner. In this way, you will not need to spend as much time explaining the main points of the essay, instead you will be able to spend more time on other aspects of the essay.Another thing that you need to know about the topic of the essay is whether or not your main points are based on factual information. If your essay is based on pure opinion, then it is not really informative. In addition, if your essay is not able to explain a certain fact, then it is going to be inaccurate and not very informative. You should know how to differentiate between factual and interesting facts. It is important that you know the difference between facts and opinions. You do not want to end up writing an essay that is based purely on opinions; this is not very informative at all.You will need to try and convince your readers that your opinions are factual. This means that you need to be able to provide enough information for your readers to easily verify the facts that you are stating. It is much easier to present information to people in a factual manner.Informative essays are great because they allow you to learn different aspects of the topic of the essay. If you write your essay with confidence, then you will be able to write more informative essays in the future. This is an important skill that will allow you to improve your academic ability.

Computer, Internet, Privacy INTERNET REGULATION POLICING CYBERSPACE T

Computer, Internet, Privacy INTERNET REGULATION: POLICING CYBERSPACE The Internet is a method of communication and a source of information that is becoming more popular among those who are interested in, and have the time to surf the information superhighway. The problem with this much information being accessible to this many people is that some of it is deemed inappropriate for minors. The government wants censorship, but a segment of the population does not. Legislative regulation of the Internet would be an appropriate function of the government. The Communications Decency Act is an amendment which prevents the information superhighway from becoming a computer "red light district." On June 14, 1995, by a vote of 84-16, the United States Senate passed the amendment. It is now being brought through the House of Representatives.1 The Internet is owned and operated by the government, which gives them the obligation to restrict the materials available through it. Though it appears to have sprung up overnight, the inspiration of free-spirited hackers, it in fact was born in Defense Department Cold War projects of the 1950s.2 The United States Government owns the Internet and has the responsibility to determine who uses it and how it is used. The government must control what information is accessible from its agencies. This material is not lawfully available through the mail or over the telephone, there is no valid reason these perverts should be allowed unimpeded on the Internet. Since our initiative, the industry has commendably advanced some blocking devices, but they are not a substitute for well-reasoned law.4 Because the Internet has become one of the biggest sources of information in this world, legislative safeguards are imperative. The government gives citizens the privilege of using the Internet, but it has never given them the right to use it. They seem to rationalize that the framers of the constitution planned Taxpayer's dollars are being spent bring ing obscene text and graphics into the homes of people all over the world. The government must take control to prevent pornographers from using the Internet however they see fit because they are breaking laws that have existed for years. Cyberpunks, those most popularly associated with the Internet, are members of a rebellious society that are polluting these networks with information containing pornography, racism, and other forms of explicit information. When they start rooting around for a crime, new cybercops are entering a pretty unfriendly environment. Cyberspace, especially the Internet, is full of those who embrace a frontier culture that is hostile to authority and fearful that any intrusions of police or government will destroy their self-regulating world.5 The self-regulating environment desired by the cyberpunks is an opportunity to do whatever they want. The Communications Decency Act is an attempt on part of the government to control their "free attitude" displayed in homepages such as "Sex, Adult Pictures, X-Rated Porn", "Hot Sleazy Pictures (Cum again + again)" and "sex, sex, sex. heck, it's better even better than real sex"6. "What we are doing is simply making the same laws, held constitutional time and time again by the courts with regard to obscenity and indecency through the mail and telephones, applicable to the Internet."7 To keep these kinds of pictures off home computers, the government must control information on the Internet, just as it controls obscenity through the mail or on the phone. Legislative regulations must be made to control information on the Internet because the displaying or distribution of obscene material is illegal. The courts have generally held that obscenity is illegal under all circumstances for all ages, while "indecency" is generally allowable to adults, but that laws protecting children from this "lesser" form are acceptable. It's called protecting those among us who are children from the vagrancies of adult s.8 The constitution of the United States has set regulations to determine what is categorized as obscenity and what is not. Free Essays on Reaction To War Letters Free Essays on Reaction To War Letters Reaction to War Letters† I am really glad that I was introduced to this book called War Letters. The book really gives focus on the emotional side of males. It has been long known that men, on many occasions, have trouble expressing their feeling, and ultimately what they want. In this extraordinary work, the accounts and recollections of the soldiers really give the reader a sense of how wartime was at that time. For example, a description of a Civil War battle is very different from a Korean War battle, and it is fairly able to recognize because of the unique wording of the soldiers. Overall this book really gives insight to the different male emotions and gives the reader an idea of the price that ordinary men pay to make us enjoy the freedom that we have today. The men who bring us the riveting tales of war are no different from any ordinary citizen today. These men were bound by their willingness for freedom in the stage of battle and would let nothing stop them to achieve this freedom. The men are fathers, brothers, and sons who are off fighting for their families and fighting for the freedom that their family currently has. Aside from some legendary figures such as, Clara Barton, Teddy Roosevelt, and Douglas MacArthur, theses letters are primarily common soldiers or marines. Most of the men writing are scared and homesick, with only these letters to keep their spirits high. They write of the hardships of battle in very descriptive wording. They write of their love for their wife and children, or girlfriend. The words in the letters, though, are so sincere and moving in most cases that it seems very unlikely that, in fact, a male did write this heart-felt letter. Their only hope is that the war they are involved in will be finishe d soon and they can be back in the loving arms of their families. The American Community and Family Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

The American Community and Family - Essay Example He was very kind to his fellows, that" there were no dog that would bark at him". But in his own house with his family he is different, he doesn't perform goodness, he will just come with his dog and his rifle. His wife used to nag at him because of his laziness and irresponsibility in his own family. His wife is always angry to him because he is no useful in the family. Because Rip Van Winkle will rather help other people fix their fences than working on his farm. Unfortunately, time came that he couldn't takeaway anymore the words of his wife so he went to the mountain where he and his dog used to go to. But a strange dwarf came out and brought him to its world and makes him sleep for almost 20 years ago. When he went back to his town, people also don't even know him. But as his daughter approached the crowd then knew that he was the Rip Van Winkle who was lost over 20 years ago. But still the community came to accept him. Here we see that the people in the community have the role of recognizing an n individual due to its good performance. But if an individual came to be as a stranger, of course it won't give him positive responses, as long as he came to be known for long with them. In the story of Maxim Hong Kingston, the "No Name Woman" the character was bind to the Chinese world. In which she tend to discover his nature and herself's Chinese character. She studied the culture of the Chinese. She is searching for his Chinese part. But the story itself put it so splendidly, "The villagers punished her for acting as if she could have a private life, secret and apart from them." (p. 396) The two-story shows the interaction of each character to its community. In which, they have tried to be in it and to be out of it. They wanted to explore something for they which are out of the community's govern. The two stories is different. The community in relation to Rip they were kind to him and they treat him well. While in the "No Name Woman", everything is different. Her life is difficult. The society does not permit her to have her own life. They are opposed to her. Even her relatives. And in this part Rip and the woman is the same. When it comes to the family, they are the opposed, but the difference is that Rip is opposed by the family because of his own fault, being helpless to his own family, while "no name" is just willing to discover his own life in the Chinese world, but the family added the pain that she is experiencing. Here we see the interaction between an individual as a part of its society, the belongingness they will gain and the hardness they are experiencing. Human Sexuality Topic (You can pick one from the sample topics in the Research Paper

Human Sexuality Topic (You can pick one from the sample topics in the instructions) - Research Paper Example des the acceptance of homosexuality into the society that involves sexual attraction to the same gender and in this case, the relationship between two males. Developing an understanding of this sexual orientation is important because there is conflicting literature regarding its existence. While there is a school of thought that believes homosexuality is as a result of genetic predisposition, opponents to this sexual orientation view it as behavioral. Homosexuality has been there since time in memorial and is now a visible reality within the society as another form of sexual orientation. In respect to ethical considerations, the question that linger in minds of many people emanate from a secular versus a religious point of view regarding same sex attractions. In the religious circles, homosexuality is a sin considering the belief that God’s plan for sexual relationships was between a man and a woman (Guittar and Pals 53). However, from a secular point of view every person has a right to choose the sexual orientation he or she desires. In secular terms, the society is liberal and nobody should question the behavior of another person as this amount to invading privacy. However, while homosexuals consider  their sexual orientation  as  normal behavior, the question that lingers in mind of many is why they hide their sexual orientation. In case it is a normal occurrence. Homosexuals are not always open and free about their sexual orientation partly because of personal reasons or fear of stigmatization. The topic of homosexuality is an important area of discussion because it is part and parcel of the modern society and in some western countries homosexuality is now legal. In this respect, it is important to understand the origins of homosexuality so as to avoid the conflict being witnessed between religious and secular views regarding homosexuality (Wright and Bae 492). While homosexuality has existed for ages, it is a sexual orientation that no one likes to talk

Ptlls Assignment Essay Example for Free

Ptlls Assignment Essay To ensure sessions’ aims and objectives are meaningful and applicable to students the teaching role incorporates ongoing administration and assessment. My role is to create a safe learning environment to establish open and trusting relationships. The main responsibility of the teacher is to continually reassess development and change during the course and create a seamless transition to ensure smooth delivery. Completing attendance record, maintaining records of learner’s progress, attending meeting includes my daily responsibility. It is my responsibility to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality and effectiveness of my delivery by taking into account learners changing needs. Boundaries ground our ethics; they are core to recognizing our limitations and realizing when changes may be needed. Being open to change and incorporating others’ input involves recognizing when boundaries must be revisited. Understanding when a student requires further help beyond your remit is a boundary which should be effectively utilized. Summarise key aspects of relevant current legislative requirements and codes of practice within a specific context: You need to be aware of key aspects of current legislation and codes of practice relevant to your subject and organization â€Å"(Ann gravells, 2008, p19) As an IT teacher in further education sector I have to be aware about â€Å"the Equal Opportunity Act (2006), The Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) and Disability Right Commission (DRC). They aim to eliminate discrimination, reduce inequality, protect human rights and to build good relations , ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to participate in the society. Apart from that, I have to be aware about Disability Discrimination Act (2005), Sex Discrimination Act (1975), Race Relation Act (1976), Data Protection Act(1998). As most of my students need a VISA from UKBA, I have to be aware about the UKBA rules and regulations as well. To work as a teacher in UK, I have to follow the code of conduct from LLUK. Review the points of referral available to meets the potential needs of learner: For students to effectively participate in learning any barriers or boundaries must be initially identified and then continuously monitored throughout the course. This promotes a sense of inclusion, equality and diversity at an individual level, which translates to a more beneficial group learning experience during the course. Financial pressures, reluctance to train, learning difficulties, travel issues, access to resources and cultural or peer pressure can all contribute to learners boundaries; however access to the course should be open to all regardless of race, religion, age, disability, gender or special needs. Collecting this data also helps identify areas that may require referral to scribes, counseling, creche facilities, health advice or a basic skills tutor in order to overcome obstacles. Discuss issues of equality and diversity, and ways to promote inclusion All learners are entitled to equal opportunities, and any communication with students should reflect this. Reece and Walker, (2000 p379) Promoting inclusion by identifying variation in needs ensures that learners have equality throughout their learning experience. Data collection through assessment etc is useful when analyzed, acted upon and continuously monitored to ensure consistency in equality. Promoting equality through more effective allocation and targeting of differing resources according to individual need is essential to the learning experience. Implementing different strategies throughout the holistic health and wellbeing course helps learners explore, question and develop an understanding of issues regarding diversity. Recognizing, differences and celebrating them through varying teaching methods responds to pupils’ diverse learning needs and supports learning activities which challenge prejudice and negative attitudes. Promoting diversity encourages widening participation and gives pupils the opportunity to share their own understanding while learning from their peers experiences. Justify the need for record keeping Teachers have to keep the records all the time which includes records of student’s information, improvement, weakness, learning difficulties, lectures etc. I always keep the record to comply with the legislation and code of conduct and practice as well. Without having any records about students, it is difficult to provide the equal opportunity of learning for the students. Understand appropriate teaching and learning in approaches in the specialist area. Identity, adapt and use relevant approaches to teaching and learning in relation to the specialist area When I teach I try to cater for all learning styles by using various teaching methods and strategies. These included PowerPoint slides, talking, QA, discussions, practical labs, writing and drawing on worksheets and using a whiteboard to collect and analyze information. Auditory learners’ may benefit from discussion, listening to presentations and questions and answers. Visual learners may benefit from whiteboard drawings, on-screen computer demonstrations, and handouts. Tactile/Kinaesthetic learners benefit more from the practical labs, building networks and producing their wn work. There are unique differences in the way people learn and we must recognise this and not regard individuals as one group or body of students. (Reece Walker, 2002, p178) When students are reading the online material I try to walk around the class and aid any students who need it, I also try to make the teaching session as differential as possible with the morning covering presentations, discussions , Q A and reading the online material and the afternoon covering mainly practical activities. [pic] The Learning Cycle Evaluate a range of ways to embed elements of functional skills in the specialist area I always embed numeracy, literacy and IT skills in my entire lesson. As I teach IT most of my session has practical session which depends on IT skill only. I always use power point presentation for my lecture as it is a effective way of learning. At the same time I do use white board and pens as well. I try to create some computer games to teach learners. By playing these games learners learner something while they enjoy the game. I use different case study and simulation software to give the understanding to the learners about the real world scenario and the industry standards. Evaluate the teaching and learning approaches for a specific session. Of leadership for an organization, industry or sector I always try to split the teaching sessions fifty fifty, in the morning we do the presentations, questions and answers and in the afternoon we do practical assignments and lab session. When participating in the lab session the students usually work in pairs. When teaching in the practical lab session, I also ensure that I am available for guidance and advice; I also give each student some personal time. When I could manage the time to go to every individual learner to find out the individual needs, I can help them most. Session like this can provide the maximum inclusive learning for the student if the number of learners is reasonable for me to give the personal support to everyone. I like these kind of session most as it can help the learners to learn something very easily. Demonstrate session planning skills Plan a teaching and learning session which meets the needs of individual learners I have found that, planning a session is the most important part for inclusive learning. I always spend reasonable time to plan my lesson properly. I try to make sure, all of my lesson will be the combination of literacy, numeracy and IT skills which will deliver most to a learner. In my lesson plan I describe what are the aims and objective of my lesson and how it will be meet. My lesson plan includes a session, which describes the situation after finishing the lesson. I always make sure there is enough plan to engage the learners with learning process which could be the assessing criteria for their learning as well. I always start my lesson with the review of the last class and I finish the lesson after having a quick review of present lesson. Planning for the resources, what I do use in my lesson, comes under my session planning. Without having enough resources I cannot deliver an inclusive learning session. The common resources I do use are the Power Point presentation, white board, pen and duster, different application software, computer, network etc. I normally do a presentation for the first twenty minutes of my teaching session, these sessions are planned so that the students do not have to use the computer and there is no interaction between computer and presentation, the reason for lack of interaction is that it can be very distracting for the students when they have to look from one to the other. After twenty minute presentation I always engage the students in conversation and ask them what they think of the chapter that they are studying and situations that it might apply to.
